The power of authenticity
“When we dare to show up as ourselves, we create ripples of permission that extend far beyond us”
The other morning, I found myself in a WhatsApp conversation with a friend, chatting about authenticity (as you do!) - and I just had to share something of it with you. She had been dealing with comments about her personal style – you know the kind, those seemingly casual remarks that can make us question our choices.
What I found beautiful was that instead of doubt, my friend felt a quiet and assured confidence. As I wrote to her, I felt that familiar spark of excitement that comes when you recognise a moment of potential transformation. "This is an invitation to transcend 'right or wrong' and really dig into 'what is me?'" I typed. "This is an opportunity to play!"
And isn't that what authenticity is really about? Not defending our choices or proving them "right," but playfully, joyfully exploring what feels truly aligned with who we are.
It reminded me so much of what I see in our Sound and Song sessions. So many women come to us carrying stories of being told their voice was "too loud," "too quiet," or simply "not right." Whether it's about our clothing, our voices, or our way of being in the world, these judgments all stem from the same place: the expectation that there's a "correct" way to express ourselves.
But here's what I know to be true: The more we show up as ourselves – fully, unapologetically, joyfully ourselves – the more we naturally attract and connect with others who resonate with our authentic expression. It's not about being right or wrong; it's about being real.
This is why I'm so passionate about creating safe spaces for women to explore their voices - their authentic expression, if you will. Because when we dare to show up as ourselves, we create ripples of permission that extend far beyond us. Our authentic voice – whether expressed through song, style, or simply being – isn't just acceptable; it's essential.
Here's to showing up as exactly who we are x
