I hit the IKIGAI sweet spot (and I wasn't even trying!)

IKIGAI: a rich and fulfilling life

I originally wrote this post as an email, back in 2023. I remember the movement vividly, I should have been be out the door and on my way to leading my Marlow group of singing mumas.... but I just had to drop people a quick line to celebrate my revelations!…

”I had the most beautiful realisation this morning when browsing my friends social media timeline. He shared the image above about the Japanese word IKIGAI - it's a way to find out your soul purpose, your life's mission - or just a great way to be happy in what you do! (find out more here)

I first saw this image a few years ago and I felt totally overwhelmed by it. I though it was something to 'conquer' and I didn’t know WHERE TO START. This morning I looked at the image with new eyes and realised... I've hit the IKIGAI sweet spot. My work with Sound and Song is something I love, the world most certainly needs it, I am lucky enough to be paid for it and, with any luck I'm doing ok at it (I'll leave others to say if I am great at it or not!)

I feel like I've managed to get here totally by chance - but actually where I am now has been a steady process of iteration through following my heart. Yes, I know it's cheesy, but I really mean it! I just wanted to share this with you all because if you're not there yet (whatever that means) then keep going! ... and you KNOW that singing is a great way to reflect on where you are and where you want to be... right?! ;)

All things pass, all things change - but right now I am super happy where I am.”

… I was right, things do change and feelings pass - but I still love my work with Sound and Song, just as much as I ever did. Long may it continue!
